The DePaul University Game, Cinema & Animation Summer Academy offers high school students an intensive, hands-on exploration of the film, television, and game industries. Taught by full-time DePaul faculty, participants gain practical skills using industry-standard equipment and technology. Students choose one of six specialized tracks: Film and TV Production, Game Development, Hand-Drawn Character Animation, 3D Modeling and Animation, Screenwriting, or Sound Design. Across all tracks, students collaborate on projects, such as writing, shooting, and editing short films, or brainstorming, designing, programming, and producing assets for 3D computer games. The program emphasizes real-world application and creative development, providing a foundational understanding of various roles within these dynamic fields.
A typical day involves hands-on instruction from 10am to 5pm, utilizing the latest equipment and technology, with lunch provided for all participants.
