Participants are paid to learn, gaining valuable coding skills and work experience while developing app prototypes to address community issues in Chicago.
The One Summer Chicago iOS App Development Training Program is a 6-week hybrid program where youth ages 16-24 learn Swift programming and app development fundamentals. Participants engage in hands-on, project-based activities, mentored by technology professionals. The curriculum introduces students to Apple's programming language, Swift, and its development tools, Xcode. Students learn to identify community issues in Chicago, brainstorm solutions, and then design, prototype, and evaluate original iOS app projects. The program culminates in an end-of-summer student showcase where select teams present their app prototypes. Successful completion of the program also makes participants eligible to apply for the Fall App Accelerator program, an intensive 12-week program focused on entrepreneurship and launching apps to the App Store.
A typical day involves hands-on, project-based activities where students learn Swift programming and app design, guided by technology professionals.
This program is best for Chicago youth aged 16-24 with an interest and commitment to learning app development and solving community issues, regardless of prior coding experience.
