About this camp

The UIC CHANCE STEM Academy is an intensive two-week, in-person program designed to introduce incoming UIC engineering freshmen to the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Participants engage in hands-on experiences, math preparation sessions to strengthen problem-solving and quantitative skills, and innovative project-based activities. The program also includes writing workshops to enhance college-level communication and critical thinking, academic skills development (time management, study strategies, goal setting), and campus resource exploration. Students will gain insight into what to expect in their first-year engineering courses while developing effective strategies for academic success. The program also offers professional career development through skill-building workshops, strategic networking opportunities, and immersive site visits that provide real-world industry exposure.
